About Jean Marc

Do you want to add value to your home by incorporating some different or very interior, custom or decorative rich paint finishes for your walls, ceilings, furniture, doors, floors or staircases? Then Jean-Marc is the person you are looking for. Jean-Marc is originally from Nice in the South of France. It is one of the most beautiful and colourful regions of France.

In 1980 Jean-Marc went to England for a change of scenery and after a month of living there, he decided to stay. Because of his capability of using a paint brush he started working as a painter and decorator creating custom and decorative paint finsihes for home interiors. He worked mostly for painting companies.

After a few years working for others, he decided to become self employed.

Jean-Marc became fairly successful doing standard painting and decorating, then one day in 1985 he came across some paneling which were wood grained. The wood grain on those panels was masterly painted and it looked so real that it was quite difficult to tell the difference between real and fake. That’s how Jean-Marc discovered paint effects.

He decided to find out how this effect was done. After further investigation and many trips to the library, Jean-Marc taught himself and mastered the art of wood graining and marbling. He also realised that by using these techniques, he could create all sorts of different paint finishes on any surface like walls, ceilings, doors, floors, furniture, skirting boards, architraves and more.

Jean-Marc combined standard painting and decorating with special decorative paint finishes like sponging, rag rolling, dragging, stippling, stencils. He also mastered gilding, wood graining, marbling and antiquing. He achieved some very grand and rich interior paint finishes in beautiful houses and estates in England.

After the birth of his son, Jean-Marc and his little family decided to move to Australia. When his house in England was put on the market, despite the argument from the real estate agent that the asking price was too high, the house sold in less than 3 hours and for the asking price. The sign ‘for sale’ sign never went up, the sign ‘sold’ went up instead. That was because over the years, Jean-Marc transformed this house into a beautiful and very desirable place to live in.

Jean-Marc and his family arrived in Australia in October 1997 and have been here ever since. Jean-Marc has worked on many beautiful homes on the Gold Coast, Queenlsnad.

He has also specializes in working on boats doing effects such as gilding, wood graining and marbling.
